I recently attempted to download and install JBuilder 2005, Foundation Version onto my laptop that uses Windows XP Media Edition. The download did not work properly and window components (scroll bars, radio buttons, etc.) did not show up. Once it was downloaded and installed, JBuilder did not run correctly (again, tabs, buttons, etc. did not show up) and when I run it from the command prompt I see unhandled exceptions.

As a test, I loaded a XP Home Edition onto my laptop, and everything worked flawlessly.

My question: Is there any known issues with running JBuilder on XP Media Edition, or is some of the other junk that compaq loads on this laptop that could cause this problem? It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue since it works fine with the XP Home.

Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

I can't imagine why there would be an issue. Can you post some of the
exceptions here? That might help determine the problem.

I did not record the specific exceptions at the time. As time permits, I will attempt to try JBuilder with XP Media Edition again. If I am able to recreate the problem, I will post.

Thanks for your input.

I have reloaded Windows XP Media Edition on my Compaq laptop and attempted to install JBuilder Foundation 2005. The install program does not work properly. I do not get a scroll bar (when viewing the license), radio buttons (accept/reject license aggreement), and the buttons have labels but not outline. I did not complete the installation because it was not working. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Best Regards,
